The main office for OTS activities is located in Beltsville, Maryland, about halfway between Baltimore and Washington, DC. The majority of the OTS team works here to provide software support, design development services, and modeling analyses. Heat exchanger testing, system testing and prototype development also take place in our 8,000 square foot laboratory at this location. We are in close proximity to both the BWI and Reagan National airports, as well as to our colleagues at the University of Maryland. We welcome your visit!

As OTS has expanded, we’ve branched out beyond our Maryland office to establish satellite locations in Michigan and California.


Our Director of Engineering, Jim Carow, works from a satellite office in Coloma, Michigan. Jim is responsible for a variety of projects requiring detailed data analysis, model development and aspects of new product design. With a wealth of experience from the appliance industry, and expertise in modeling platforms such as MATLAB, Modelica and DIAdem, Jim is well adept at tackling challenging heat transfer and system performance problems.

In 2020, OTS expanded to California with two full time engineers. California is leading the United States in energy efficiency and emissions policy, innovation and implementation. Having a presence in the state allows OTS to meet the various needs of our clients and follow trends in the industry. Thermal Engineer and Project Manager Darren Key works to coordinate field testing demonstration efforts and provides direct client support and project coordination. He is supported by Thermal Engineer Anirudh Mathur, who provides additional support in data analysis, modeling, and system design.
